Police stated it is unknown if and drugs or unlawful speed played a factor in the crash. The crash is under investigation by the Sarasota Police Department Traffic Homicide Unit.Â
An inmate search of the Sarasota County Jail website revealed Jorge Denis’ home address is listed as 3150 Courtland Street. Police have not released all the case information and listed the location of the crash only as the 3100 block. So, I’m going to make an educated guess that Jorge drove home and probably crashed into the neighbors garage. Now a woman is dead because Jorge was allegedly driving impaired, but we’ll have to wait for the blood test results. Since there was a death in the crash, police will have taken a blood draw. He also did not have a valid driver’s license, and I’m sure there’s a good reason for that.
Denis was transported to the Sarasota County jail where he is being held without bond and charged with one count of DUI manslaughter, one count of vehicular homicide, driving without a valid driver’s license resulting in death, and three counts of driving without a valid driver’s license resulting in serious bodily injury.
