Bates was encountered shortly after midnight in a heavily damaged residential area in North Naples. Collier County deputies found him earlier in the area before the midnight curfew took effect and removed him from the area. During a patrol in the same area after curfew, Bates was encountered again by the same deputies. When Bates could not explain his reason for being in the area that he doesn’t live at, and out after curfew, he was arrested.

When deputies found another man’s wallet and fentanyl in his pants pocket Bates stated, let’s all say it together now, “These are not my pants.”

“I will not tolerate criminal activity as our community recovers from Hurricane Ian,” Sheriff Kevin Rambosk said. “Deputies are patrolling day and night to protect our citizens and their property.”
Bates was transported to the Collier County Jail and charges on this arrest include, Violation of Established Emergency Measures (Curfew), Possession of Cocaine, Possession of Fentanyl, Possession of Xanax, Possession of Clonazepam, Possession of Diazepam, Possession of less than 20 grams of Cannabis, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and a Fraud Charge for Possession of Identification Cards that weren’t his.
