Florida Man Beats His Dad – Hides in the Swamp For Days
Cory Randall Philippe, 32, is being held in the Osceola County Jail after he allegedly attacked his father and then hid for days from the Sheriff’s Office in the swamps near Yeehaw Junction.
The Osceola Sheriff’s Office stated that on Tuesday evening, Osceola Deputies responded to the South Osceola community of Yeehaw Junction about an aggravated battery. Upon arrival, they discovered that Philippe had attacked his father by striking him with a “metal object,” and the search began. Deputies searched for Philippe throughout the immediate area of vacant homes and heavily wooded lots about a half mile east of State Road 60 and Sunshine Avenue in Yeehaw Junction.

The initial search was unsuccessful as it appeared Philippe fled into the swamps of southern Osceola County. A cordon was set up, and the search area was expanded. Yeehaw Junction was now flooded with Osceola deputies, the Sheriff’s Office helicopter, and the SWAT team searching for Philippe.
For two days, the search proved unsuccessful. The Osceola Sheriff’s Office announced on social media that they had exhausted search efforts for Philippe, believing he had managed to escape the cordon. They stated that they were scaling back search efforts but reaffirmed they would maintain a presence in the area.

On Friday morning, the trail got hot, and Philippe was tracked down and found hiding in a mobile home in the search area. The Osceola County SWAT team surrounded the trailer and eventually saw Philippe exit the house after SWAT team members launched gas into the structure, the sheriff’s office said.
The Osceola County Sheriff was pleased with the search operation and stated:
“Sheriff Marcos R. Lopez commends a job well done by our deputies, who worked tirelessly to apprehend this individual.”
Phillipe was transported to the Osceola jail and charged with aggravated battery on a person 65 years old or older. He is currently being held without bond awaiting arraignment.
