Florida Man Arrested in Colorado for Possession of 959 Cannabis Plants
Florida man Lazaro Piloto-Gomez, 57, is in the Pueblo County Colorado Jail after investigators discovered a major indoor cannabis grow operation at his property there. Apparently, Piloto-Gomez is opening a “Florida Man Franchise” in Pueblo, Colorado.
Investigators for the Pueblo County Sheriff’s Special Investigations and Narcotics Division received a tip about an illegal cannabis grow operation in the southwest part of the county. I say illegal, because Colorado residents are allowed by law to possess twelve cannabis plants for their own personal use.

Detectives went to the property in the 6400 block of Galbreath road near Bergemann road to investigate the tip. They met with Lazaro Piloto-Gomez and spoke to him about the allegation of an illegal cannabis grow operation on his property. Piloto-Gomez admitted to the investigators that he had more than twelve cannabis plants and boy was that an understatement.

Detectives obtained a search warrant and began a search of the residence and two outer buildings, one of which was a large building that was split into two rooms, the other was a separate garage. When the dust settled, detectives seized 930 plants from the large building and 29 more from the smaller garage building for a total 959 cannabis plants.
Also found were approximately 10 pounds of dried cannabis product for a grand total worth almost a million dollars. Also seized was equipment and supplies typically used for packaging and distributing marijuana.
Piloto-Gomez was arrested for cultivation manufacturing of marijuana with intent to distribute (over 50 pounds). Apparently, cannabis cultivation is not a big deal in Colorado. Even though Piloto-Gomez was charged with a first degree felony, his bail was set at $1,000.
Pueblo Regional Building inspectors responded and condemned the home and outbuildings due to the major alterations made to the electrical system.
The investigation into this grow operation is ongoing.
