Florida Board of Governor’s Inspector General to Investigate FAU’s Presidential Search
Brad Levine, the Chair of the Florida Atlantic University Board of Trustees, received another letter from Ray Rodrigues, the Chancellor of Florida’s Stae University system, informing him that an investigation is being opened into FAU’s behavior during its recent search for a new president.
FAU admitted that questions had been sent by a search firm to a university presidential candidate, asking him if he’s “queer,” and now the search process for the new FAU president is suspended.
Board of Governors Inspector General Julie Leftheris will be leading a thorough investigation, according to the letter from State University Chancellor Ray Rodrigues, sent to Board of Trustees Chair Brad Levine dated July 11th. This letter has not been released by FAU.
Governor DeSantis recommended Republican State Representative Randy Fine for president of FAU. Three candidates made the final selection. Rep Fine wasn’t one of them. Questions have come about concerning allegations about the search process itself, as well as speculation about why the Governor’s recommendation wasn’t in consideration.
Chancellor Rodrigues sent the first letter to Chair Levine on July 7th, stating concerns about the search process. At least one candidate had been asked if he was “queer” or a “transgendered male.”
