Florida Best Buy Delivery Man Sentenced to Life in Brutal Boca Raton Murder
Florida Man and Delivery Driver Jorge Dupre Lachazo, 24, was sentenced to two life sentences plus 30 years in prison for the brutal murder of a 75-year-old retired librarian while delivering a washer dryer.
Dupre Lachazo and another man delivered a washer and dryer set purchased from Best Buy to Evelyn Smith Udell’s Boca Raton, Florida, home in the Colonnade at Glen Oaks in August 2019, investigators said.

After installing the appliances, the other man went outside. Police said Lachazo was supposed to be showing Udell how the appliances worked, but instead, he grabbed a mallet and hit her over the head before setting her on fire. The other man told Police he heard screams and smelled smoke minutes later. He found Ms. Udell on the floor and called 911.

Investigators said Dupre Lachazo took off in the delivery truck but was later stopped by a responding officer.
Police found a rubber mallet used in the attack and a can of paint thinner that Dupre Lachazo used to start the fire next to Udell’s body, according to law enforcement.
Both items had Dupre Lachazo’s fingerprints on them, prosecutors said.
Investigators also found that the woman’s wallet had been disturbed, suggesting theft as a motive for the attack.
Defense attorneys didn’t deny that Dupre Lachazo attacked the older woman but argued that the slaying wasn’t premeditated or intentional.
Today the killer of Evelyn Udell received two life sentences plus 30 years.
One of the victim's sons told Jorge Dupre Lachazo: "With any luck, the prison justice we see in movies will be visited upon you."

Udell’s family expressed their pain and anger during the sentencing hearing, with her son stating that Lachazo had “stolen” his mother from him and that she would never be able to spend time with her grandchildren.
“Because of this pathetic, weak sissy, we are here to ensure you will never see the light of day as a free person,” said Udell’s son Harran.
Other family members spoke about Lachazo’s lack of remorse.
“It is obvious to all good and moral people that the person who committed these depraved acts exemplifies the worst evil we have in this world,” said her daughter-in-law Bronwyn Miller.
According to court records, Palm Beach County circuit judge Dallas Weiss gave Dupre Lachazo two life sentences plus another 30-year sentence.
