FL Dems Breathe Sigh of Relief as Biden Cancels Trip to Florida
As Florida continues to prepare for Hurricane Ian, which is expected to be a Category 4 hurricane that will hit Panama City and Tampa, President Joe Biden canceled his trip to Florida.
Biden was expected to stump for Democratic candidates ahead of the November midterms.

Gubernatorial candidate Charlie Crist is trailing Florida Governor Ron DeSantis by anywhere from 3 to 7 percentage points, according to the RealClearPolitics average.
Biden was supposed to go to Orlando for a rally held by the Democratic National Committee on September 27th.
Charlie Crist was a staunch ally of President Biden in Congress, voting with him 100 percent of the time while in Congress.
The Florida Republican Party highlighted Crist’s lockstep voting record with Biden in an attack ad in late August.
Biden decided to cancel his trip to Florida after he declared an emergency over Hurricane Ian this weekend and activated federal disaster relief that will go to Florida.
DeSantis declared an emergency across the entire state on Saturday as the Hurricane was located approximately 590 miles from Cuba’s western tip.
While Biden canceling the trip means that he has still not campaigned in Florida with only six weeks before the elections, he has frequently attacked Governor DeSantis in the last year.
Most recently, Biden has said that he is exploring options to sue Republican Governors who have transported migrants to Democrat states.
He criticized Ron DeSantis after he sent migrants from Texas to Martha’s Vineyard earlier this month.

‘Instead of working with us on solutions, Republicans are playing politics with human beings using them as props,’ Biden said at the Congressional Hispanic Caucus Institute Gala. ‘What they’re doing is simply wrong. It’s un-American. It’s reckless.’
DeSantis had his own thoughts on Biden’s immigration policy, comparing Biden’s reaction to 51 illegal immigrants dying as they were being trafficked across the border to his reaction after migrants were transported to Martha’s Vineyard.

The White House has not said if Biden plans to reschedule his trip to Florida.
It is not clear if Biden’s trip to Florida would have helped Florida Democrats, as his approval rating is still underwater by double digits.
A 538 polling average of Biden’s approval ratings currently has him at a -12.2 percent net approval rating.
Former Biden Press Secretary Jen Psaki openly admitted that they will lose if the upcoming midterms are a ‘referendum’ on President Biden.
