On Saturday, Deputies were called to the Sol Terra community in Davenport around 1 a.m. due to reports of a huge party that led to fighting in the streets, Polk County Sheriff Grady Judd said. Upon arrival, deputies found a party scene with over 200 juveniles and adults in the street, neighboring yards, and inside a short-term rental home.

Deputies called for an ambulance to assist an extremely intoxicated person. A deputy was attempting to clear the road for the paramedics, and a Range Rover was blocking the road. The deputy tried to get the vehicle out of the way, but the occupants would not move or even speak with the deputy.

The deputy went to copy the tag number when he noticed the registration was expired. The Range Rover then fled the area, sideswiping the deputy’s vehicle. The deputy did not pursue the vehicle as the scene was chaotic enough, with people and cars in the street. The Polk County communications center issued a BOLO for the vehicle.

The vehicle was seen a short while later at a convenience store. As deputies attempted to approach it, the Range Rover took off again. Deputies pursued. The vehicle left Polk County and entered Osceola County, so Polk deputies called off the pursuit.

Shortly after, the suspects drove around three vehicles, stopped at a 4-way stop, entered the intersection, and t-boned a Honda killing the 27-year-old man inside.

The Polk deputy who had given up the chase was still on the same road and came upon the crash. He saw people fleeing from the Range Rover. He and other deputies chased the suspects and captured three of them. Sheriff Judd says there may be a fourth suspect but didn’t provide any additional information.

Sheriff Judd advised that the Range Rover was stolen in Martin County. All three suspects have lengthy criminal histories and are facing multiple charges, and Polk County is still trying to determine who was driving.

Also arrested were Dovensky Delpe, 21, and Melissa Martin, 17, for hosting an open house party.
