Fauci Documentary Reveals Cringe-Worthy Video About Vaccine Hesitancy in DC

Dr. Anthony Fauci and D.C. Mayor Muriel Bowser were scrutinized by a man who refused to get the vaccination for COVID-19 when the repair went door-to-door in the capital city for a documentary.

The video comes as part of a PBS docu-series called “American Masters, ” with this episode focusing on Dr. Anthony Fauci. The series aims to  “discover insightful profiles of important figures in America’s artistic and cultural life.”

In a clip from the series titled “Dr. Fauci visits D.C. to battle vaccine hesitancy,” Fauci and Bowser are seen walking the streets of D.C. in June of 2021, going door-to-door in areas with low vaccination rates in attempts to change minds. The area was Ward 8 of Anacostia in southeast D.C., a historically African-American neighborhood Fauci called “disenfranchised with vaccinations.

One man, however, didn’t make Fauci’s job easy, challenging the Dr. and Mayor because “..people in America are not settled with the information that has been given to us right now. So, I’m not going to be lining up taking a shot on vaccination for something that wasn’t clear in the first place.”

The man went on the press Fauci and Bowser about the seemingly short time frame the vaccine was developed in.

“And then you all create a shot in miraculous time. It takes years to create…. Nine months is definitely not enough for nobody to be taking no vaccination that you all came up with.”

It should be noted that while the vaccines were tailored to COVID-19 exceptionally quickly, the underlying mRNA technology that makes them possible has been developing for decades, something Fauci mentioned. The man, however, was unconvinced, saying that that still wasn’t long enough.

Mayor Bowser hopped in, attempting to defend the vaccine with personal experience.

“The only reason I’m talking to you right now as close as we are is that I’ve been vaccinated. But if thousands of people like you don’t get vaccinated, you’re going to let this virus continue to percolate in this country and in this world,”

However, the man interjected when Bowser mentioned the virus’s spread, pointing out it would be “Something like the common flu then, right?”

When Fauci argued that the COVID death toll that year was higher than the previous year’s flu, the man claimed that’s “you all’s number.” It should also be noted that the deadliness comparison is not 1 to 1, as the flu has existed for decades in the U.S., allowing for the development of multiple treatments and immunizations. At this point, COVID was still brand new.

The man also expressed concern about the incentives “because when you start talking about paying people to get vaccinated when you start talking about incentivizing things to get people vaccinated, it’s something else going on with that.”

As Fauci and Bowser walked away, unsuccessful, the man attacked Fauci for attempting to incite fear in the country with his messaging.

“[Your] campaign is about fear. It’s about inciting fear in people. You all attack people with fear. That’s what this pandemic is. It’s a fear, it’s fear, this pandemic. That’s all it is,”
