Escaped Inmate Captured After Committing Burglary
Escaped inmate Edward Hales Saucier, 23, who was an inmate with the Florida Department of Corrections in Kissimmee, escaped from state prison. He’s back in jail after being captured Sunday evening.
Edward Saucier reportedly cut off his ankle monitor before he escaped from prison on December 1st. The facility is a Community Release Center where low-security inmates can receive vocational training, according to the Florida Department of Corrections website. According to the sheriff’s office, he was serving a sentence for multiple burglaries.

The Indian River Sheriff’s Office said they got a 911 call regarding a burglary that took place at 6480 48th Avenue. The victims told deputies that someone burglarized their home and stole clothing and food.
Deputies believed that Saucier was possibly in that area. Since burglars normally don’t steal clothes and food, they believed Saucier wanted to change out of his prison uniform.

Through investigative leads, Indian River sheriff’s office investigators were able to track Saucier to the wooded area of 6400 48th Avenue.
The Sheriff’s Street Crimes Unit, K9 units, Helicopter, and numerous patrol units responded to the area. Saucier was captured there, placed into custody, and transported to the Indian River County Jail, where he was charged with escape.
According to the Indian River Sheriff’s Office, Saucier was recently sentenced to two years in state prison for committing multiple burglaries in Indian River County. In Oct of 2021, Saucier was arrested for trespassing & theft. In November of 2021, he was arrested for burglary of a structure and petit theft in Vero Beach and held on an $11,000 bond.
Now that Saucier has attempted to escape, he’ll get some more time and will not be eligible for any programs such as the one he escaped from.
Apparently, Saucier hasn’t learned his lesson. Don’t run from the police – You’ll only go to jail tired.
