ELF’s Best of 2024: Hulken, Trump, and Hallow…
While President Trump’s election victory was by far the most important event of 2024, I want to share other small but delightful things I found this year.
Hulken Rolling Bags:
Watching a movie recently from the 1960s, I remembered how difficult and awkward luggage used to be before it had wheels. Why did it take so long to come up with this innovation? Same question for my beloved Hulken bag. It easily carries groceries from the car to the kitchen, is perfect for farmers’ markets, trips to the post office, etc., and folds flat to store in your car. It is an essential purchase for anyone in a condo. It comes in seven fashion colors and three sizes. I can’t live without it. Sold in person at The Container Store, Amazon, or Hulken.com.
I loved my Hulken bag so much that I even made a video to recommend it to Florida Jolt Editor at Large Tracy Caruso.
The Hallow App:
Various celebrities raved about this App, including Mark Wahlberg, Jim Caviezel, Russel Brand, and Jrue Holiday, so I tried the free trial offer and loved the depth and scale of worship. It’s Catholic-focused, but the menu of prayers, meditations, music, and inspirational talks could easily apply to the believer or non-believer. The ten-minute nightly prayer (9-10 minutes of quiet positive prayer) is one of my favorite ways to transition into a restful sleep. It helps calm our raging brains before sleep. It is a gentle reminder of living with grace, peace, and the power of faith that we dearly need. Hallow.com
Nodpod:
We are in a sleep deficiency crisis in this country between the overstimulating technology in our lives, off-the-chart anxiety, and an aging population. I was skeptical about a weighted tiny blanket for your eyes. I already use a weighted blanket, which really helps with tossing and turning. Geez, was I wrong. The Nodpod makes a massive difference in my sleep quality. It is a bead-filled soft cotton sleep mask that lays over your head but doesn’t wrap in the back. It is easy to travel with, gives you comfort and well-being, and blocks out light. An added benefit is less dry and irritated eyes. Available on Amazon and Nodpod.com.
Magic Hour Teas:
Instagram has the perfect algorithm for me. It introduced this tea brand, and I am such a fan. It has a “crunchy granola” and “what’s your zodiac sign” vibe out of California, but the tea quality is excellent. They offer black, chai, green, and herbal teas with rotating special seasonal flavors that appeal to all tastes. The packaging is 10 out of 10 with striking graphics, and the loose tea is available in sample pouches and their lovely purple glass containers. My two favorites are Gypsy Rose and Bohemian Vanilla. Small sample packs are offered so the tea drinker can try various flavors. Available on their website, Clubmagichour.com.
The Trump Election:
Lastly, the highlight of 2024 was Trump’s landslide election by far. It was a year of political ups and downs. After two assassination attempts and the growing awareness that our eyes and ears were indeed correct, Biden was in no shape to run the world’s most powerful country. With the help of some brave, fearless men and women more brilliant and innovative than any Marvel hero, our President Trump won the popular vote and the electoral college in the greatest comback in American political history. It feels like a whole new world.
