From Military Intelligence and Engineering to Leadership:

Palmer’s career journey began in the United States Air Force before entering the engineering sector, where he supervised staff members working on software development and operational intelligence for the National Security Agency (NSA). Early on, he recognized the need for servant leadership—turning the traditional pyramid model upside down. By putting team members first, he rose through the ranks to senior leadership positions, successfully building and managing several organizations. Palmer brings practical leadership and management experience to county government through numerous certifications in Lean/Six Sigma, Project Management, and Program Management and operations. He holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from Colorado Technical University, a Master’s Degree in Operations Management from the University of Arkansas, and a Master’s Degree in Leadership from Mid-America Christian University.

A Humble Call to Serve:
Drew Palmer has always served behind the scenes, quietly making a difference. Now, he steps forward to ask for your vote as he seeks to serve the entire county on the Okaloosa Board of County Commissioners. His community vision for Okaloosa County includes:

  • Affordable Housing for Teachers and First Responders: Drew is committed to ensuring our community’s well-being by developing effective strategies to provide affordable housing options for critical community members, including teachers, police officers, firefighters, and other essential workers. By addressing this pressing need, we can create a stronger, more resilient Okaloosa County.
  • Supporting Law Enforcement and Public Safety: Drew knows we need to never tear down or defund our crime fighters, but keep them strong. All first responders and emergency personnel including EMS, Fire services, law enforcement, and emergency management must be funded and operated and the highest level to keep our families safe.
  • Provide Efficient, Lawful, and Transparent County Operations: Drew has a Zero-Tolerance for wasteful spending, theft, and criminal behavior within county government. He will continue full support of the Inspector General’s Office within the County Clerk and Comptroller’s office to ensure public monies are spent properly.
  • Infrastructure Development: Drew aims to attract industry by enhancing our roads, utilities, and connectivity. He will continue supporting county and city plans to add additional highway capacity and better safer roads while letting our tourists and visitors pay for as much as possible.
  • Economic Growth: By fostering a business-friendly environment, he envisions a thriving local economy. Drew feels keeping government out of the way and “off the backs” of the business community is a sound public policy.
  • Continued Excellence: Acknowledging outstanding public servants, Palmer seeks to build upon their legacy. Providing training and professional leadership to county employees delivers better services to the taxpayer. Looking for new ways of doing business should be embraced; not feared!
