A new interview from MSNBC with former FBI Director James Comey has many viewers rolling their eyes.
The program, which aired on June 4th, shows Comey being interviewed by Jen Psaki, a former White House Press Secretary for Joe Biden and current political analyst for MSNBC.
Comey suggested that “there is no one else [good for President] but Joe Biden,” Psaki dusted off the 2016 Russian collusion conspiracy theory, and asked the former FBI chief whether Putin might interfere on behalf of Trump in 2024.
“One of the focuses that seems to have faded from the headlines is the threat of Russia intervening in our electoral process and system. You know, Trump recently said that Ukraine — wouldn’t say if Ukraine should prevail over Russia. Given his affinity for Putin and his outlook on the war, do you expect or should we expect Russia to interfere on his behalf in 2024 if he’s the nominee?”

Comey responded with an emphatic yes,
“Yes, of course. Vladimir Putin does not want Joe Biden to be president of the United States for reasons that I hope the American people see. Because he acts in our national interest. He would very much like Donald Trump to be president again because Donald Trump is, for reasons I still can’t explain, very fond of Vladimir Putin. And so, they will find ways to interfere. I hope our intelligence community is equipped to respond maybe better than we did in 2016, but they will come for this election.”
After allowing Comey some time to set a new Russian collusion narrative, Psaki asked him,
So what should the media be telling the public about how to protect themselves or how to watch for that? What do you wish people were doing out there?
Comey replied,
I wish people were taking a breath and a beat before accepting something that they see online, especially rumors about people or — I don’t know what it will be over the next year, but documents that have suddenly been discovered breathlessly, take it all with a grain of salt knowing that folks are looking to mess with you.
Comey made these assertions after being fired as FBI Director in 2017 for gross negligence and disregard of FBI procedure and law, with all of his efforts coincidently hurting Trump early in his presidency. In the same interview, Comey also showed particular concernover what he called a “retribution” presidency that would see the former president’s political adversaries prosecuted.
Reactions to the interview were spot on, with many commenting on the incompetence of Comey during the Russian Collusion allegations,
