DeSantis to Raise Funds for Trump in Florida, Texas
According to a new report, Governor Ron DeSantis is planning to raise money for former President Donald Trump at several events in the coming weeks. The latest sign that the two former rivals are burying the hatchet is that DeSantis is expected to make multiple stops throughout Florida and Texas, helping to boost Trump’s presidential campaign. The news follows less than one month after the two met in a closed-door meeting in Miami.
On Monday, the Associated Press reported that DeSantis’ finance team was workshopping a fundraising schedule. The outlet also said that the Governor was personally making phone calls to donors to raise money for Trump, according to anonymous sources.
“He’s shown his commitment to the president and that’s why I say we’ll follow his lead, and why I think donors will follow his lead,” said Roy Bailey, a Dallas investor who was a co-chairman of DeSantis’ national finance committee during his presidential campaign, but was not among those to confirm the planning. “We will be focused on past DeSantis donors who have yet to donate to President Trump. We’re going to try to mine those donors for him. That will create a lot of value.” ~ via Associated Press
The move is a far cry from last year’s embittered primary battle, which created a rift between the two Florida Republicans.

Last month, Trump confirmed that relations between him and the Governor had begun to thaw, posting on Truth Social that the two had met in Miami to discuss fundraising possibilities. “I am very happy to have the full and enthusiastic support of Governor Ron DeSantis of Florida,” Trump wrote. “We had a great meeting yesterday,”
“The conversation mostly concerned how we would work closely together to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN. Also discussed was the future of Florida, which is FANTASTIC!” Trump said. “I greatly appreciate Ron’s support in taking back our Country from the Worst President in the History of the United States. November 5th is a BIG DAY!!!” ~ Donald Trump via Truth Social
The meeting, which took place on April 28, was arranged by mutual ally and real estate investor Steve Witkoff. It was closed to the public and lasted a few hours. The two Republican giants reportedly shook hands upon departing.

DeSantis has yet to comment publicly on his fundraising efforts for the former president. In early April, however, he signaled to donors during a private retreat that he would move to support Trump’s campaign. A report by NBC stated that “the majority” of the attendees were open to helping Trump.
The fundraising bid also comes as the Trump campaign struggles to match Biden’s war chest. According to campaign figures released in March, the Biden campaign and the DNC raised over $90 million for a total of $192 million in cash. By comparison, the Trump campaign raised just $66 million in March, for $92 million cash on hand.
DeSantis, who boasts a substantial donor network, raised more than $183 million for his primary campaign and related PACs and more than $200 million for his 2022 gubernatorial campaign.
