DeSantis Shoots Down RFK For VP Pick, But Might ‘Sic Him’ on CDC & FDA
Governor Ron DeSantis announced Wednesday has no plans to make Democrat Robert F. Kennedy Jr. his running mate but says he would be open to ‘siccing’ him against the CDC or FDA if elected to the White House.
In a sit-down interview with OutKick writer Clay Travis, DeSantis suggested that the Democrat contender would be too liberal for the Vice President’s office. Still, they felt they were “aligned” in wanting to tackle corruption in the country’s “healthcare bureaucracies.”
“If you were the nominee, would you consider RFK Jr. as a running mate?” Travis asked the Florida Governor.
“Here’s the issue: I’m aligned with him on Fauci and the corruption in the health bureaucracies 100%. And I think he’s probably said some other things that I agree with too, but at the end of the day, he’s more liberal– very liberal on some,” DeSantis responded.

DeSantis cited Kennedy’s positions on affirmative action and climate change as examples and said conservative voters would have difficulty supporting a candidate with such extreme views.
“I mean, he used to say, I don’t know if he still believes this, that if you deny climate change you should go to jail, things like that. So, it’s like conservative voters, they would want those positions flushed out. He opposed the affirmative action ruling [that said], you can’t racially discriminate, on that he would have wanted that to remain. So I just think at the end of the day, you need somebody that’s going to reflect the values of the broad coalition.” ~ Gov. Ron DeSantis on OutKick
Despite Kennedy’s liberal leanings, DeSantis also told Travis that he felt there was common ground to explore in taking on America’s healthcare bureaucracies. “The medical stuff, I’m very good on that,” DeSantis said. “So that does appeal to me.”

While DeSantis said he felt that Kennedy was “out of step” with a “whole host of other things,” the Presidential hopeful said he would be open to using the Democrat’s talents to take on the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) or the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
“And so on that regard, it’s like, okay, if you’re president, you know, sic him on the FDA if he’d be willing to serve, or sic him on CDC. But in terms of being veep, if there’s 70% of the issues that he may be averse to our base on, that just creates an issue.” ~ Gov. Ron DeSantis on OutKick
Despite being a lifelong Democrat, Kennedy has emerged as a top critic of the Biden Administration, officially entering his party’s presidential primary in April. On Tuesday, he appeared on a Fox News town hall with host Sean Hannity, where he criticized the 80-year-old President for the “bad decisions” coming out of the White House.
“I will say, whether [Biden]’s up to it or not, whether he’s making his own decisions – the decisions that are coming out of the White House are bad decisions.” ~ Robert F. Kennedy Jr. on Fox News
