DeSantis Says Iran’s Influence Over Biden is ‘Really Mind-Boggling’

Governor Ron DeSantis hammered the Biden administration Saturday for putting U.S. servicemembers at risk in the Middle East and doing the bidding of the Iranian regime. In multiple interview appearances, DeSantis criticized President Joe Biden for relaxing sanctions and providing money for Iran, which he says has been used to fund terrorism.

There are nearly 1,000 American troops currently stationed in the Middle East following the outbreak of the Israel-Hamas War. In an interview with Newsmax, DeSantis said those servicemembers are at grave risk under the leadership of Joe Biden.

“You’re in a situation where he has some of our troops in the Middle East — it’s not clear what their mission is; it’s not clear that they’re there in larger enough numbers to even accomplish a mission — but there are enough of them to be inviting targets from our enemies,” DeSantis told host Rita Cosby. “So he’s letting Iran take potshots at our service members.”

On Thursday, Biden authorized multiple airstrikes against Iran-backed militant targets in Syria, destroying two facilities used by the Iranian Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC). DeSantis, however, argued that the strike was ineffective.

“The response that they did was targeting empty weapons depots,” DeSantis said. “There was not even any IRGC members around, so it was definitely a tepid response.”

“Biden’s weaknesses is inviting more attacks against American troops. He needs to open his eyes. He needs to clear his administration out of all these Iran sympathizers. He should withdraw Jack Lew as the U.S. ambassador to Israel nominee and he should get real with what Iran is doing.”

DeSantis said that the Biden Administration’s handling of the crisis is par for the course. He pointed out that despite Iran’s known hostility to the United States, Biden has consistently rewarded the regime by relaxing sanctions and providing funding, which has likely been used to “export terrorism.”

“Biden has known how hostile Iran is to both Israel and the United States, and he chose when he came into office to relax sanctions,” DeSantis said. “They’ve had massive amounts of money flowing into their coffers. That regime is not going to use that money to make life better for the Iranian people. They’re gonna use that to fund Hamas, Hezbollah, to export terrorism around the world.”

DeSantis suggested that the recent attack by Hamas against Israel may have been due to Biden “loosening the screws” on Iran.

“I don’t think Hamas would have been able to carry out the attack that they did if it weren’t for Biden loosening the screws on Iran and allowing that money to flow.”

Later on Saturday, DeSantis appeared on ‘Life, Liberty, & Levin’ and continued criticizing the Biden White House. He described Iran’s influence over the administration as “really mind-boggling.”

“Look, I think a lot of their weakness vis-a-vis Iran is ideological. I think it goes back to the Shah was a U.S. ally, they didn’t like that when the Ayatollah came in, the Left just views that as kind of sticking it to America.”
