DeSantis receives major pro-life endorsement, ‘ fearless advocate for the unborn’

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has made protecting the lives of the unborn one of the top priorities during his tenure as Governor.

In April, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis signed a 15-week abortion ban.

The ban is currently being appealed in court, but the Florida Attorney General and Republican officials are confident that it will remain in place after it makes its way to the Florida Supreme Court.

The largest pro-life group in the United States, Susan B. Anthony List, endorsed Governor Ron DeSantis’ re-election bid this week due to his efforts to fight for the unborn.

“We’re proud to endorse Governor Ron DeSantis, a fearless advocate for the unborn and their mothers and for the will of Floridians,” SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser said in a statement, praising the governor for following the science.

Dannenfelser further explained the importance of standing up for pro-life policies, saying  “Gov. DeSantis is right: science shows unborn children are human like us and feel excruciating pain in brutal late abortions. Lives are being saved today thanks to his strong leadership, and he continues to stand up for the people’s right to enact their values in the law – not have abortion on demand until birth imposed on them by unelected judges,” she said, expressing gratitude for the governor’s “unflinching commitment to moms and babies.”

Abortion has become one of the top issues for Democrats after the reversal of Roe v. Wade.

Democrat Gubernatorial candidates Nikki Fried and Charlie Crist have gotten in to repeated spats over their views on abortion.

The pro-choice, progressive Nikki Fried attacks Crist for his previous pro-life record when he was Republican Governor of Florida.

“Every voter will know Charlie Crist is “pro-life,” not only because I’ll tell them, but because he goes around saying it. It’s disqualifying.” Fried recently said.

Fried recently released an attack ad showing Crist’s pro-life record, with repeated statements of him standing by his pro-life stance.

Fried is consistently polling lower than Crist, though both are a long shot to beat Governor DeSantis in his re-election bid.  DeSantis currently leads the pack by anywhere from 8-12 points, according to recent polling.
