DeSantis Mocks ‘Bootgate’ Detractors – ‘No Time for Foot Fetishes’
Speculation over Ron DeSantis’ height and footwear has taken over headlines this week, and the Florida Governor is now pushing back against his detractors. On Thursday, DeSantis sat down with host Eric Bolling for an interview on Newsmax, where he was asked about the recent ‘bootgate’ allegations.
“There are these gotcha people, these people who just want to sit there, and they want to talk about how tall you are, whether you’re wearing boots with heel extenders inside,” Bolling said. “I mean, Governor, the southern border is a disaster; terrorists are coming across the border. We got two wars that we’re kind of funding, and they want to talk about how tall you are. Respond, please.”
“Look, Eric, this is no time for foot fetishes,” DeSantis replied.
“We’ve got serious problems as a country. We’ve got war in the Middle East, we’ve got terrorists coming across our own southern border, we have an American dream that’s out of reach for millions of Americans because of the Bidenflation and the high energy prices. We’ve got schools that are indoctrinating kids and not educating kids, and we’ve got cities that are being overrun by crime.”

DeSantis blamed his opponent Donald Trump’s campaign, telling Bolling, “I know people want to try to divert on to other issues.”
He then said he would attend the next GOP primary debate wearing a boot on his head if Trump can “summon the balls” to attend.
“I know Donald Trump and a lot of his people have been focusing on things like footwear. I’ll tell you this, if Donald Trump can summon the balls to show up to the debate, I’ll wear a boot on my head.”
Getting serious, DeSantis said the more important question was whether the Presidential candidates have any “substance” to offer.
“And the question is, are you able to fight for them? Which we have done in Florida. Are you able to win those fights? We have been able to in Florida. “And are you able to lead to a better tomorrow? We’ve done that in Florida, and we’ll do that for the United States of America.”

Conversation over DeSantis’ footwear first kicked off on Monday after podcaster Patrick Bet-David asked DeSantis about allegations made by the Trump camp.
“What they’re trying to say with this is that in your boots, you have heels,” Bet-David told the Florida Governor.
“No, no, those are just standard off-the-rack, Lucchese,” DeSantis responded.
After Thursday’s interview, DeSantis spokesperson Carly Atchison took a shot at the Trump campaign on X.
“ATTN: Team Trump ‘men,’ if you ever decide to man up, you and your boss can buy a pair of balls here,” she wrote, linking to a page selling ‘Team DeSantis’ branded golf balls.
The next GOP primary debate is scheduled for November 8 in Miami. As with the previous two debates, former President Donald Trump is not expected to attend.
