DeSantis Fires Back at Democrat Sheriff Investigating Martha’s Vineyard Flights
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis’ office responded to a Democrat sheriff in Texas who announced Monday afternoon that his county was launching a probe regarding the illegal immigrantsDeSantis flew to Martha’s Vineyard last week.
Bexar County Sheriff Javier Salazar, an elected Democrat, said his office would be investigating what he claimed was an “abused of human rights,” escalating the widespread rhetoric around DeSantis’ move to legal action.
The Sheriff said that the move “exploited,” “lured,” and “hoodwinked” the migrants, claiming that it was for “nothing more than political posturing.”

However, the Sheriff admitted that he could not name any broken laws or likely suspects in the case, simply that he thinks that DeSantis did the wrong thing.
“At this point, I’m not able to definitively say here’s the statute that they broke either federal, state or local. But what I can tell you is it’s wrong just from a human rights perspective, what was done to these folks is wrong.”
The DeSantis Team was quick to fire back. Rapid Response Director Christina Pushaw left a reply to the video.
Isn’t his jurisdiction where the 53 migrants died in a box truck???

A spokesperson for DeSantis addressed the Sheriff’s, as well as many left-wing commentators’, concerns of cruelty.
“Florida gave them an opportunity to seek greener pastures in a sanctuary jurisdiction that offered greater resources for them, as we expected.”

DeSantis banged a similar drum in a recent press conference.
“I saw somebody on CNN try to say, ‘sending 50 illegal aliens to wealthy Martha’s Vineyard is reminiscent of the Holocaust’. And I just thought to myself, has the world gotten totally mad? I mean, these are voluntary transportation that they’re signing up for, but they’re given a good ride, they’re given everything. And that’s just you know, it’s a humane thing to do.”
DeSantis refuted the accusations that Florida had deceived the migrants in the same press conference.
“I think if you look, the folks that are contracted, not only do they give them a release form to sign, they actually give them a packet, and in that packet included a map of Martha’s Vineyard. So it was obvious that that’s where they were going, and they gave that to them.”
DeSantis said he would have sent the migrants back to their home countries if he could. He also ripped in to the Biden administration for creating the situation in the first place.
“What’s not humane, is what Biden is doing, he’s given a false promise, the border’s open, luring people to come here for political purposes, and then basically cutting these people loose and leaving them high and dry.”
