Delray’s Ryan Boylston Mauled Again, Republicans Carney & Barthelemy Hold Fundraiser
A little over a week ago, the Florida Housing Innovations Council (FHIC) said they would release a series of ads hitting Delray Beach Mayoral Candidate Ryan Boylston, and they weren’t kidding.
FHIC’s second video dropped today, and more are coming.
I wrote about this previously in Delray Candidate Ryan Boylston Slammed by Florida Housing Innovations Council.
FHIC President and founder Dr. Kurt Jetta said at the time:
“As a candidate, Mr. Boylston is trying to position himself as a candidate that supports affordable housing, and we are not going to let that happen because the facts against him are devastating,”
That was about the first video released:
Jetta and Boylston gave Florida Jolt quotes about their differences when the first video dropped:
“Persuasion didn’t work, Addressing Objections didn’t work, Top-notch legal advice didn’t work, Public Support didn’t work, Community Engagement didn’t work, Lobbying from respected community leaders (Krieg, Immelman, Berman, Perlman, Cassello) didn’t work. It ultimately gets down to five elected officials that decide the fate of a good policy, and FHIC is working to get people in office that are sympathetic to those policies, and letting others know there are consequences to opposing them.” – Kurt Jetta, Founder of Florida Housing Innovations Council

Boylston’s quote from last time is what the second FHIC video answers. Boylston said:
I’ve been the strongest advocate for affordable housing on the dais since I was elected in 2018, and during my time we built a record, 274 affordable housing units. Mr. Jetta was not interested in presenting his communal living business through the proper channels of a community lead housing diversity plan. Instead he has attempted to strong-arm the city into revising land development regulations to fit his needs. Delray has spent years coming to grips with the impacts from communal living and sober home challenges, and I’m not going to roll over now to a developer bully. And I certainly will not be swayed by political attacks and threats – not from Mr. Jetta or his PAC.
– Delray Beach Mayoral Candidate Ryan Boylston.
Bragging about 274 affordable housing units when Delray Beach rents are up 80% is like bragging that you spit on a forest fire. You added a little liquid, but it didn’t do much to put out the flames.
Sources tell me FHIC will up the ante very soon, so keep reading Florida Jolt to find out what happens next.
Republicans Carney & Barthelemy Hold Fundraiser
Tuesday night, I stopped by a joint fundraiser at Le Sorelle on Fifth Avenue in Delray For Mayoral Candidate Tom Carney and Delray Seat 3 City Commission candidate Anneze Barthelemy.
The Prosperous Political Action Committee sponsored the event, and they made a nice spread, and the food at Le Sorelle was delish.
I have a story about Barthelemy that every candidate or wanna-be candidate should pay attention to. The first time I spoke to Anneze was to get her comment and explanation about something ugly two volunteers had said on an inadvertent recording that a source had sent me. Barthelemy is a Republican, and it’s tough making that kind of call to a fellow Republican. When I call a Republican for a comment or explanation about a story that probably won’t turn out fabulous for them, I often get the hostile, “I thought you were a Republican” routine. Barthelemy was calm and friendly. She explained what had happened and what she had done about it and gave me a quote. Frankly, she was charming, and I liked her.
Barthelemy is running against two radical leftists for the Delray District 3 seat, and instead of making an enemy, she found a supporter.
I donated to Barthelemy’s campaign on Tuesday night, not just because she’s a Republican but because I think she’s a good person running for the right reasons.
