College Student Uses Term ‘Biological woman’ – Gets ZERO on Final Project
A college student on Twitter reported her professor gave her a zero on her final project proposal for using the term “biological woman.”
The student, evidently named Olivia, took to Twitter to tell her story and reveal the behavior of her professor, who has remained anonymous.
A screenshot of the professor’s commentary and 0 out of 20 grade reveals why the term “biological woman” was such an issue. In the commentary, the professor admits that the proposal is “solid” otherwise.
“Olivia, this is a solid proposal. However, the terms “biological women” are exclusionary and are not allowed in this course as they further reinforce heteronormativity.”

For those who don’t know, “heteronormativity” refers to the idea that the default romantic relationship is between men and women or is the norm. According to Olivia, the proposal necessitated the use of this term, as it regarded the issue of transgender women (biological men) competing in women’s sports, a topic to which biology is foundational, revealing the professor’s bias. “How am I supposed to do my final project if I can’t use the word biological women, but that’s what my project is about?” the student asked.

In response to the grade, this student has also revealed she plans to advocate for herself to the college to fix her grade, even though the professor has remained non-responsive.

The professor’s bias is also evidenced by the lack of rule-breaking in the professor’s syllabus, which claims to primarily judge projects on timeliness and work quality. The syllabus also allegedly states the content of one’s opinion has no bearing on a grade unless the views “create emotional and/or mental harm for your diverse classmates or espouse bigoted or anti-scientific views.”
Olivia called this portion of the syllabus “ironic,” as she is being more scientific by referring to biology and the determination of sex at birth, compared to her professor.
Olivia claims to have brought up the lack of a rule break multiple times to her professor, to no avail. According to the student, the professor violated her syllabus by failing to respond within the last 48 hours, leaving the student with no path forward.

Some observers on Twitter took the professor’s side.
All women are biological. She probably meant ‘cis’ women. Students should be encouraged to use language accurately.

Even if the adjectives being added are positive or neutral, using the term “biological woman” it is still kinda encouraging the colonization of our gender. Just remove the modifier and use the word “women” when you are referring to adult human females.

This is about controlling language. That's what your teacher and without taking a deep dive into politics, the left are working their backsides off to do. Call whatever doesn't fit their agenda offensive, discriminator etc and ban it. By doing this she takes away the ability to a

Olivia has chosen not to make the professor’s identity public unless absolutely necessary.
“Thank you everyone for your overwhelming support. At this time I do not wish to release the school/professor name until I receive a response from the school. If no action is taken by the school… then I will pursue new course of action.”
