Chicago Man Wearing Ankle Monitor for Previous Carjacking – Gets Busted for Carjacking

Khalil Ingram, 20, is back in the Cook County Jail after he was arrested for carjacking after he’d been released on the condition that he wears an ankle monitor for a previous carjacking.

According to Cook County prosecutor Victor Aberdeen, the female victim, 29, had arrived in the parking lot of the Little Village supermarket on West Cermak to speak with her mother over the phone that morning when Ingram allegedly opened her car door.

Khalil Ingram – Scene of Crime

Ingram ordered the woman to exit the vehicle, then demanded her purse. The victim refused to give him the bag, so he jumped inside the car and fled the scene with her belongings still inside.

Among the contents were the woman’s AirPods, which Chicago police pinged to track down the car within hours, Aberdeen said. When they found the vehicle, Ingram was in the car with his electronic monitoring bracelet still attached to his leg.

Chicago police detectives learned that the AirPods and Ingram’s ankle monitor pinged along the same path during and after the hijacking, Aberdeen said.

Ingram was charged with vehicular hijacking, and Aberdeen explained to Judge Ankur Srivastava that the suspect had seven juvenile adjudications of delinquency.

Ingram is reportedly on juvenile parole following a previous vehicular hijacking and was adjudicated delinquent for several other robberies.
