‘Carry This Torch of Freedom Onward’: DeSantis Releases Final, Uplifting Ad

With only a week before the much-anticipated gubernatorial election,  Governor Ron DeSantis revealed his final campaign ad, a 60-second TV spot titled “Keeping Florida Free.”

The ad consists of multiple shots of Governor DeSantis and his wife, Casey DeSantis, interacting with their supporters at various functions and rallies. They can be seen talking, hugging, laughing, and shaking hands with them. Throughout the ad, there’s a strong focus on actual people, all while a slowed-down piano version of “America the Beautiful” plays in the background. At the end of the ad, DeSantis can be heard calling his supporters to action, to “Carry this torch of freedom onward.”

The Republican Party of Florida (RPOF) said the ad was meant to highlight DeSantis’ crowning achievements.

“The Governor’s Freedom Agenda is delivering historic results for Floridians — historic tax relief, historic teacher pay, a historic law enforcement recruitment package, historic legislation for protecting parental rights — all while blunting the headwinds from Washington DC, making Governor DeSantis the leader Florida needs,”

The ad comes as a refreshing dose of optimism after an election season primarily focused on attacking opponents. Many DeSantis supporters tweeted their approval of the ad and its hopeful tone.

Like many other Florida Republicans, DeSantis holds a commanding lead in polls and campaign spending over his opponent, Charlie Crist. He’s also winning in terms of early votes and newly registered voters. Florida Politics put DeSantis’ spending lead into perspective.

“For the week that ended Oct. 21, Friends of Ron DeSantis spent more than $11 million, nearly equaling the $12 million Crist’s political committee has spent in its entirety since May 2021. The RPOF received $6.7 million that week, and the political committee of the GOP Florida House campaigns received $3.5 million.”

A Florida Atlantic University poll of likely voters in early October showed 51% supporting DeSantis and only 39% favoring Crist.

Despite the good news, and the conventional wisdom predicting a red wave, the ad shows that DeSantis is not taking his foot off the gas. This seems to align with the philosophy Jolt CEO Jack Furnari recently espoused during election day’s run-up.

The point of all this is to ask my brother and sister Republicans not to get overconfident. To make one more phone call, knock on one more door, and do everything they’re capable of doing between now and Tuesday, Nov. 8, at 7 PM.

Together, let’s demolish the Democrats.
