Reed, along with another suspect yet to be captured, is seen on a home surveillance video using boulders to break thru a hurricane-proof door through the garage of a home on southwest 87th Street and 58th Avenue last Saturday morning. Investigators said a total of five subjects from Broward County took part in the burglary.
The homeowners inadvertently gave the criminals access to the garage area as they forgot to close their garage door for the night. Getting into the house was a little more complicated, though.
The door from the garage into the house was hurricane-proof. Reed and his buddy are seen using large boulders from the home’s landscaping to punch through the glass.
“This is violent stuff; a couple is sleeping, husband and wife, and five children, including an infant, in that house.” “They come here at approximately 1 a.m., they start going through neighborhoods, checking doors — vehicle doors, as well as house doors — in order to steal high-end cars,” said South Miami Police Sgt. Fernando Bosch.
Reed was able to get through the door and inside the house. He took the keys to the victims’ 2020 Mercedes-Benz S63.

Investigators said Reed had been linked to 14 different burglaries from various cities, including Coral Gables, Pinecrest, Miami, and South Miami. They tracked his movement because he was on pretrial release and was wearing an ankle monitor.
Police arrested Joshua Reed on Thursday and charged him with burglary, grand theft, and criminal mischief. He is being held without bond.
