Armed Florida Man Gets Arrested Outside Jaguar Dealership

Florida man Micah Weis Bennett, 26, of Pierson, Florida is in the Collier County Jail after he walked into Jaguar Naples at 900 Tamiami Trail North wearing a camouflage tarp and carrying an AR-15 pattern rifle.

Naples Police Officers responded to a 911 call in reference to an armed subject, later identified as Micah Weiss Bennett, walking around the Jaguar Naples dealership carrying a rifle.

Witnesses say Bennett approached several employees and customers while holding the rifle, which created a panic at the dealership and caused both employees and customers to flee the area.

As Naples Officers were arriving, they observed the suspect driving out of the dealership in a truck. The officers conducted a traffic stop at the dealership and Bennett was taken into custody without further incident.

When interviewed, Bennett told officers he was being attacked by radiation and made several other nonsensical statements to them. Detectives attempted to interview Bennett, but he indicated people were following him and declined to be interviewed any further.

Investigators called Bennett’s mother and she advised her son was diagnosed as bipolar and was previously placed into protective custody under the Baker Act.

Bennett traveled from Pierson, Florida in Volusia County to visit his aunt in Fort Myers, Florida, but why he went to the Jaguar Dealership is a mystery

Naples police say they recovered 14 handguns, 3 rifles, brass knuckles, several cans containing a large amount of ammunition, and a bullet-proof vest.

The investigation is ongoing, and a Risk Protection Order (RPO) will be filed by Naples Police Detectives.

Bennett was charged with four counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He is being held without bond and his court date has been set for November 21st.

It appears Bennett has some issues that would prohibit the ownership of firearms, and I would love to tell Florida Jolt Readers where the system failed, but police have no comment at this time.
