Three years after a Black Lives Matter riot devastated Kenosha, Wisconsin, left-wing groups are still lying about the events, including the self-defense shooting of two rioters by Kyle Rittenhouse. The anti-gun group Moms Demand Action is the latest to try and rewrite recent history… although commenters on social media were having none of it.
On Friday, the group posted to X that Rittenhouse “was not held accountable” for the deaths of Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber–the convicted child molester and domestic abuser, respectively, who attacked 18-year-old Rittenhouse during the riot.
“Three years ago today, at a protest of the police shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha, WI, 17-year-old Kyle Rittenhouse—who was openly carrying an AR-15-style rifle—shot and killed Joseph Rosenbaum and Anthony Huber, and wounded another man. Rittenhouse was not held accountable.”
The post is a desperate attempt to try and drop Rittenhouse’s lengthy, widely-publicized criminal trial into the memory hole, along with its ‘not guilty’ verdict.
Fortunately, commenters on the social media site set the record straight.

“He was held accountable. There was a trial and everything. It was in the news,” wrote user Forest Garner. “The verdict based on the actual evidence was that he was not guilty of any crime.”
Another commenter wrote,
“Joseph Rosenbaum, a convicted paedophile btw, chased him & tried to unlawfully take his rifle. Anthony Huber chased & hit him across the back w/ a skateboard. The other dude admitted in court that his pointing of his own firearm at Rittenhouse was why Rittenhouse fired at him.” ~ Madam [@KalinkaPavlova]
“Why fail to mention Kyle was running AWAY from these thugs, who were chasing him to do harm? You definitely aren’t any moms I know,” commented ‘Bree.’
“‘Moms’ but concerned about a child rapist that was dispatched… Kind of ironic,” said another user.
The original post also referred to the police shooting of Jacob Blake, a 29-year-old father and Kenosha resident. What the gun control group left out, however, was that Blake had been in the process of kidnapping his children from the mother he had been accused of sexually assaulting and had a knife when he resisted arrest by the responding officers.

“Since then, armed demonstrations—largely driven by far-right mobilization and reactions to left-wing activism—have continued,” the group added in a subsequent post. “[Everytown] found that armed demonstrations are violent or destructive six times more often than unarmed demonstrations.”
The Black Lives Matter riots in Kenosha are estimated to have cost upwards of $50 million in damages, according to the Kenosha Area Business Alliance. A firefighter and police officer were also hospitalized due to the violence.
A recent report by Axios found that the 2020 George Floyd riots were the most expensive “in insurance history,” totaling between $1-2 billion in property damage across 20 states. Property Claim Services deems any event totaling more than $25 million in losses a “catastrophe.”
