Lake County GOP Chairman Anthony Sabatini Calls on Elected Officials to Rescind Endorsements for Richard Gentry After Gentry’s TV Ads Are Proven False and Defamatory

LAKE COUNTY – Today, Anthony Sabatini, Chairman of the Lake County Republican Party and former Florida State Representative, is calling on any elected official or group that has endorsed Richard Gentry in the race for Florida House District 27 to rescind their support following the testimonies of church members confirming candidate Steve Shives never stole money from Lighthouse Ministries, the South Carolina church Gentry’s campaign is claiming Steve scammed out of $200,000.
“Richard Gentry is calling Steve Shives a criminal while the evidence demonstrates otherwise, and he should take his TV ads down immediately,” said Chairman Anthony Sabatini. “The accusations Gentry is making, while in keeping with the duplicitous nature of his career, are not in keeping with what voters want. That’s why they are supporting Donald Trump for President, and that’s why they want the establishment pretenders like Richard Gentry gone.”
Sabatini further added: “It is absolutely remarkable to see the people that have come forward to defend Steve’s character and set the record straight. Gentry’s actions are defamatory, and no self-respecting elected official should be associated with this kind of behavior. I call on anyone supporting Gentry to rescind that support and back Steve Shives.”
Although he still claims a homestead exemption on his home in Tallahassee, career lobbyist Richard Gentry registered to vote in House District 27 in January of this year and filed to run for State Representative. He has raised over a hundred thousand dollars from special interests in Tallahassee and immediately embarked on a highly negative attack campaign on Shives.
