Adam Schiff Censured for Russia Collusion Lies, Dems Throw Tantrum

The U.S. House of Representatives voted to censure Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA), a key architect of the Russian Collusion Hoax, for making false claims against the 2016 campaign of former President Donald Trump. Schiff is only the third House member to be formally censured since the turn of the century–after Charlie Rangel in 2010 and Paul Gosar in 2021.

The resolution narrowly passed 213-209 along party lines. It sparked chaos in the chamber as Democrats flooded the House floor to stop Speaker Kevin McCarthy from announcing the results.

For roughly five minutes, Democrats commandeered the proceedings, erupting in chants of “shame!” before shouting about George Santos, a Republican lawmaker currently facing fraud, false statements, money laundering, and theft charges.

After regaining control of the House, McCarthy announced to the room:

“The House of Representatives censures Adam Schiff, representative of the 30th congressional district of California, for misleading the American public and for conduct unbecoming of an elected member of the House of Representatives.”

Shortly after the vote, Schiff called the censure a “badge of honor” and thanked Republican lawmakers for introducing the resolution.

“I thank you. You honor me with your enmity, you flatter me with this falsehood. You, who are the authors of a big lie about the last election, must condemn the truth tellers.”

“And I stand proudly before you. Your words tell me that I have been effective in the defense of our democracy, and I am grateful,” he added.

Rep. Anna Paulina Luna (R-FL), who introduced the resolution, tore apart Schiff on the House floor Wednesday, accusing the California Democrat of having “ripped apart American families across the country” and that he is “permanently destroying family relationships.”

Luna had previously introduced another resolution censuring Schiff, including a $16 million fine, but was forced to remove it after 20 House Republicans voted it down last week. The resolution text says that “Representative Schiff purposely deceived his Committee, Congress, and the American people” by spreading lies about Russian collusion.

The resolution against Schiff also cited the report from Special Counsel John Durham, which concluded that “neither U.S. law enforcement nor the Intelligence Community appears to have possessed any actual evidence of collusion” during the investigation of the Trump campaign.

“…We conclude that the Department and the FBI failed to uphold their important mission of strict fidelity to the law in connection with certain events and activities described in this report,” ~ Special Counsel John Durham

Of the six Republicans who broke rank and voted present on the resolution, five are members of the House Ethics Committee, which will be required to investigate the false claims made by Schiff. In a statement to Fox News, one of the congressmen, David Joyce of Ohio, wrote,

“As a member of the House Ethics Committee, I have always deemed it appropriate to vote present on legislation related to matters that are or could come before the committee rather than prejudging the outcome of the committee’s investigation.”
