11 Dem Attorneys General Want Gas Stove Rules to Advance ‘Equity’
In another escalation of government intervention in American homes, eleven Democrat attorneys general recently ‘commented’ on a request from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, saying that increased regulations (or a ban like that in New York) would “reduce the harms associated with gas stoves due to their disproportionate impact on underserved communities.”

The 11 Attorneys General who refer to themselves as ‘the States’ in the letter cited New York, California, and many other high-cost-of-living states as examples to which the Consumer Product Safety Commission should look for regulatory inspiration.

“The States” also added that gas stoves should be required to have “automatic shut-off valves and pollutant sensors other than for
carbon monoxide” to counter any possible gas leaks from the stoves.
The Attorneys General, who appear to be roleplaying as climate scientists, also recommend that gas stoves be given updated warning labels and be subject to a public education campaign that would discuss “health hazards and the range of mitigating measures that consumers can take to minimize these health risks.”
The Democrats close the letter claiming that “the most health-protective option for U.S. households is building electrification, as supported by policy and legislative efforts of many of our States.”
“Electric and induction stoves are alternatives to gas stoves that do not produce combustion emissions, and, therefore, do not contribute to poor indoor air quality to the same extent as gas stoves.”
According to the U.S. Energy Information Administration, thirty-eight percent of American homes utilize gas stoves and do so daily. Around 70 percent of families in states like Illinois, California, New York, and New Jersey have gas stoves – meaning that nationwide restrictions would significantly affect tens of millions of Americans.
The move comes just a few days after the Biden Administration announced national dishwasher regulations and after months of increasingly harsh restrictions on other American home appliances, all in the name of “fighting climate change.” It also comes just under a week after New York State announced it would be banning furnaces or gas stoves in any new buildings – something Democrat leaders have been saying wouldn’t happen.

The Biden Department of Energy has already introduced harsh regulations on the stoves, attempting to significantly limit their utility – a move that drew heavy criticism and resistance from industry leaders.
According to the Daily Wire, Joe Biden, through his associates in the bureaucracy and his Climate Task Force, has increased regulations (and therefore prices) on more than 12 different product categories.
It’s difficult to say whether or not more regulations will come in the future, given that the introduction of substantial regulations is usually preceded by statements saying that no significant regulations are coming.
